Scientific Director of Diavgia Ophthalmology Center: Mr. Evripidis M. Vardavas

Mr. Evripidis Vardavas is an ophthalmologist surgeon.

He graduated from the Ionidios School in Piraeus and obtained his medical degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. After completing the compulsory rural service at the Infectious Diseases Hospital of Athens, he specialized in Ophthalmology at the Athens Polyclinic and the Athens Eye Clinic. He then attended a number of seminars and medical conferences abroad for a number of years, in order to gain further expertise on contact lenses.

He has been working on the use of contact lenses and especially on the use of contact lenses for keratoconus since 1973. For this reason, he is considered to be among the first and also most experienced contact lens fitters in Greece, with more than 70,000 recorded successful contact lens fits in his career. He has also contributed to a significant number of scientific articles and various medical conferences as an invited speaker, explaining the usage of contact lenses after cataract surgery in neonates and children. Furthermore, he has been the keynote speaker at various conferences on myopia correction with paragon lenses.

In 1995 he founded Diavgia Ophthalmology Center, which nowadays is considered one of the most prestigious eye care centers in Greece. At the same time, Mr. Evripidis Vardavas collaborates with the Ipapanti Ophthalmology Clinic for cataract surgeries, as well as with the Athens Ophthalmology Center for Excimer Laser surgical procedures.

He is a member of the Athens Medical Association and the Hellenic Ophthalmological Society and has three children.

Scientific Associate of Diavgia Ophthalmology Center: Mr. Michael E. Vardavas

Mr. Michael Vardavas was born on 15/07/1972 in Thessaloniki Greece, he is an Optometrist and the son of Dr. Euripidis M. Vardavas - Ophthalmologist surgeon.

He graduated from Papagos Lyceum in Athens in 1990 and in 1991 he started BSc Optometry at Glasgow Caledonian University, where he graduated from in 1998. From 2002-2003 he trained as on Optometrist in Glasgow and Edinburgh and he worked for VISION CALL OPTICIANS, where he gained a lot of experience in the field of optometry in domiciliary visits (on-site eye testing).

Ever since, he has attended a lot of seminars concerning contact lenses, glaucoma, diabetes and low vision. He is a specialist in contact lenses fitting including keratoconus.

From 2004 to 2009 he was the supervisor for the opticians lab in Vardavas Optics in Athens and at the same time he worked in Diavgia Ophthalmology Center for pre-post LASIK evaluation, visual fields, corneal topography and orthoptics. From 2009 to 2018 he was the owner of Michael Vardavas Opticians in Korinthos Greece.

At present, he works at Diavgia Ophthalmology Center as a scientific associate next to Dr. Euripidis M. Vardavas, founder, manager and scientific director of Diavgia Ophthalmology Center.
